Back to the Basics: The Case for a Seasonal Reset

The basics of staying healthy and feeling good are not rocket science.

Eat a good diet, move your body, and get enough rest.

Yet, we humans make life oh so complicated! We are certainly living in “interesting” times -  uncertain and turbulent times.

Many of us are feeling anxious

We may feel anxious about our work, our families, our finances, our relationships, the world - and maybe all of these at the same time!

When we feel anxious, it’s easy to let our wellbeing habits slip.

We forget to meal-plan and shop, and we end up eating more take-out or processed foods. We find ourselves skipping our workouts. We toss and turn at night, scrolling through our social media rather than sleeping.

If this is you, you are not alone! When humans are faced with challenges, we forget how to take care of ourselves.

A seasonal reset helps you get back to the basics.

There are practices and traditions around the world that promote seasonal resets to help humans get back on track.

Ayurveda, the health tradition from India and the sister science of yoga, recommends doing a gentle reset each spring and fall. This is something that I have been doing for over a decade. My spring “reset” is an opportunity to revamp my habits and realign my course toward better health.

A seasonal reset can help you to release stress, toxins, and ways of living that don't serve you, and help you to embrace a kinder, better way of living. A reset sets you up for better self-care, a healthier seasonal diet, joyful movement, and good quality rest.

Are you in need of a few weeks of self-care and a gentle reset?

A seasonal reset can help you:

  • Release stress and negativity from your mind and body.
  • Calm and soothe your nervous system.
  • Improve your diet and digestion.
  • Improve your sleep.
  • Bolster your immune system.
  • Rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit.
  • Set you on a course for healthier aging

Taking time twice a year to reset and renew yourself prevents you from living on automatic pilot, being over-busy, and perpetuating patterns and habits that aren’t in your best interest.

Hit the pause button and reset your course. A seasonal reset is a time to..

  • Slow down.
  • Clear your space.
  • Focus on yourself.
  • Get more rest.
  • Eat more simply.
  • Be reflective

If you've never done a seasonal cleanse before, let me assure you that it's not as hard as you may think!

A reset at its core is a return to healthy living.

That sounds simple enough. And, conceptually it is simple. You could do it alone and be successful. But, humans are social creatures and we evolve and make changes faster in a group than we do on our own which is why I have found group resets to be so successful.

Spring Reset with a group- what’s involved?

When we do our Spring Reset together, we simplify our calendars so that you put ourselves first for a few weeks. During this time, we support one another in improving our daily habits. We commit to eating simple, healthy, whole foods. We add in more whole grains, fruits, and vegetables and reduce or eliminate foods that can cause problems for your body. We strengthen our Circadian rhythms by getting regular exercise, spending time outdoors, and prioritizing sleep.

If you are interested in joining this year’s Spring Reset, I'd be happy to be your guide and invite you into a community of folks seeking higher health. Find the details here.
